Municipal Development District Board
The Pilot Point Municipal Development District is a MDD comprised of seven members appointed by City Council. The Board is authorized to expend funds for both economic development projects and community quality of life projects. Expenditure of the funds requires approval from both the board and the City Council.
On May 1, 2021, the qualified voters of the City of Pilot Point voted to terminate the City’s type B economic development corporation (the “EDC”) and the EDC’s one-half percent (.5%) sales tax to the City’s newly authorized Pilot Point Municipal District (the “MDD”). Voter approval of the EDC termination and creation of the MDD results in no net change to the City’s total sales tax rate, but will include an imposition of the MDD’s sales tax in the City’s corporate boundaries and extraterritorial jurisdiction.
