Coffee with the City Manager | May 18

Britt Lusk invites you to have a cup of joe with him the third Thursday of every month, between 7am-9am at the Coffee House.
Britt welcomes questions, ideas, or just casual conversation and plans to offer Coffee with the City Manager on a regular basis.

The Chamber is a non-profit organization composed of businesses and individuals who wish to see Pilot Point grow and flourish. PointBank Business Breakfast

Every month, PointBank invites members of the business community to their monthly Business Breakfast, hosted at the Pilot Point Branch Community Center (739 E Liberty St). Bringing insightful business tips to the small business owners in Denton County.

TWU Center for Woman Entrepreneurs Workshops & Gatherings

Veteran Woman Entrepreneur Grant

If you are a female veteran in Texas who is starting or currently owns an existing business, you may qualify for the CWE’s Veteran Woman Entrepreneur Grant program.

There will be 25 grant funds of $5,000 each awarded to qualified Texas women veterans. This grant program is aimed specifically at helping veterans and is open to women entrepreneurs throughout Texas.

Grant applications due by 5 pm on May 5.

Texas Rural Woman Grant

The purpose of this program is to foster greater economic development activity in Rural Texas by encouraging and enabling rural woman-owned, small businesses to undertake new and innovative projects. A total of thirty-five $10,000 grants for a total of $350,000 is available for this round of funding.

Grant applications will be accepted May 15 through June 9.

Join us for double the fun at our May WomenRISE with Bliss Coulter, President & CEO at the Women’s Business Council-Southwest for Women’s Business Council-Southwest: The importance of a women-owned business certification and Damoris Trenea Smith, Contracting Specialist, FEMA Region VI: How To Do Business With FEMA.

The Women’s Business Council-Southwest certifies women-owned businesses with the WBENC certification which is the most widely recognized and respected national certification for women-owned businesses in the U.S.

This certification helps women gain access to a vast network of support, including targeted business opportunities for certified women-owned firms, increased visibility in corporate and government supply chains, education and development programs to spur growth and increase capacity, and networking and mentorship opportunities with thousands of women entrepreneurs and those who support them.

In this workshop you will learn:

  • How to get certified
  • The importance of certification and leveraging the WBCS network
  • How to engage with WBCS to expand your business
  • Be prepared to work with major corporations
  • How to navigate the supplier diversity space

Texas Travel Industry Recovery Grant Program

Starting February 1, 2023, a new application category will open for the Texas Travel Industry Recovery Grant (TTIR) program through the Texas Economic Development & Tourism Office. The TTIR Program provides one-time grants of up to $20,000 for the recovery of Texas businesses in the tourism, travel, and hospitality industry that were negatively impacted during the pandemic.

Governor’s Small Business Summit

The Governor’s Small Business Summit aims to help Texas small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs reach new heights by connecting them with the resources and information needed to start, strengthen and grow a business. This event offers a variety of sessions bringing together local, state and federal resource partners to provide key insights on critical business topics. It’s also an opportunity to network with other business owners and meet experts who will share timely, relevant and actionable advice on a multitude of small business subjects.
