Regional and Urban Design Assistance Teams
AIA Communities by Design
In 2013, Pilot Point was honored by the American Institute of Architects when the city was selected as one of two communities that year to participate with the Regional and Urban Design Assistance Team (R/UDAT). During the R/UDAT process, the Pilot Point community decided they wanted to recognize and build on existing community assets. Some community goals include ways to rebuild the nationally recognized historic downtown, promote an active lifestyle while capitalizing on the nearby Lake Ray Roberts State Park, and attract more businesses to support local job growth. The goal of the Pilot Point R/UDAT was to create a complete, integrated plan, by taking into account all areas of Pilot Point, and developing a vision of what growth should look like as the Dallas- Ft. Worth metroplex expands to the north.
